Heroes
Watched a few minutes of the Emmy’s last night and caught the trailer for NBC’s upcoming show Heroes. I’m interested. I’ve heard, from a reliable source, that the series is going to be excellent. My tivo will be set. Because it loves me.
Agent Weiss as a beat cop? Ali Larter as a hot bitchy mom (I’m assuming the “bitchy” part. But I don’t think Ali can not do bitchy)? A mild mannered Japanese guy with a satchel bag? An Indian taxi driver (which is genius)? Hell — in an obscure display of Nerd Cred — the show even features the sister of Toby Cypress, artist of Image Comics’ “The Tourist.” How’s that for a ballsy line-up?
You can watch the trailer on the front page of YouTube today.

I’m very, very curious about this. I can’t help but wonder who the “villain” will be or if it will be more about character, like dealing with their powers and stuff.
From the trailer it doesn’t look like they’re going to form a “super-hero” team. I think that would be a mistake, maybe. It’s definitely on my to-watch list!
Oh. Also good to see Ali Larter getting some work.

Scott-
I hear episode 3 features Dr. Doom.

I don’t know, it seemed kind of hokey. It’s hard to do super-heros with a television budget. MUTANT X anyone?

Oh, fuck me. Listen, Hawkeye, I appreciate your participation and interest in the blog. But can you please post with some sort of variation of your real name? And I don’t mean Clint Barton.
It’s not your bad, there’s no rules stating this anywhere, but I want to know who I’m speaking with on this blog. Honestly, I’m not interested in talking with The Mighty Avengers or the Suicide Squad or whatever. Again, this is my fault for not clearly stating it somewhere, and you’re totally welcome here. Just — yeah, real name.
Pretty please?

Crap, got off on the wrong foot there. Sorry! After reading my comment again it DOES come off a little annoying. I found this blog through Don Murphy’s TRANSFORMERS message board. I read tons comics when I have the disposable income. These days that’s becoming more and more rare. Anyways, my name is Gilbert.

The budget for a show like ‘mutant-x’ is basically nil. you will be blown away by how great the f/x look week in and week out on the show. it’s damn stunning and just shows how far television has come. It’s worth a look, if you’re not hooked after the first 2 episodes then I don’t know what to tell ya.
Scott — there will be villains and it will be more character oriented as well. more so than another little show on another network that likes flashbacks.

Welcome to the family Gilbert. The foosball table is out back.

Thanks Matt!!!
Pierluigi — Did Heroes already air?!!! Your MUTANT X comment is a fair point. Although I don’t know how you could possibly deduce that the show will be character oriented.

I work on the show! From an insider’s perspective, it’s got characters you’d actually want to hang out with and develop an affinity for.

*places foot in mouth*
Well — uh — THAT’S embarassing! I was just basing my opinions on the trailer. I will certainly tune in to watch the actual show. Based on things you’ve said it sounds good. My goal after college is to move out to Los Angeles and work in television or film production. Any advice for 19-year-old student, Pierluigi? I’ve been studying a bunch of television lately. I’m obsessed with Vernoica Mars right now.

I was a bad human being and downloaded this illegally last week. As someone WITHOUT a vested interest in the show other than seeing that talented friends continue, I can honestly say I was REALLY impressed with HEROES. It really is character driven - it will draw inevitable comparisons to LOST (especially since it shares some of the creative team), but in comic book terms I’d say it’s closest to Brian Wood’s DEMO. It’s cast real well, which is half the battle right there.
Matt - if I join the Avengers, and get a code name, will I still have to post with my secret identity?

oh…and I had forgotten that about Toby’s sister, he mentioned that at a con this year. Toby’s a great guy, if his sister is half as cool as he the show is lucky to have her.
