Scoring a PS3 in Ikebukuro

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

Jean Snow, man about town in Tokyo, hopped on his bike last night to scope out the PS3 fever.

How crazy was it on the PS3 launch day to get your hands on a console? As this image suggests, plenty, and you should read Brad’s account of how he got his hands on one.

Heroes Rising

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

According to the Nielsen Ratings (projected through alien science) Heroes scored a monster 6.6 in adults 18 - 49 Monday night. That’s another series high for the show about folks that have sooper-powers. We’ll keep an eye on Heroes continuous ass-kickery over the course of the next few weeks.

In other Heroes news, I stumbled across a Heroes messageboard that counts down the hours, minutes, and seconds until the next episode of the show! Hardcore, indeed. Although they seem to have taken down the timer today and replaced it with a clip of the show. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t frequent the messageboard and discuss Niki’s breast size and the science of Hiro’s relationship with the space/time continuum.

It’s always interesting to me the time and effort some fans will put into supporting their favorite shows.

STASH x SLICK “Rust in Piece” this Thursday

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

SLICK x STASH: “Rust in Piece”
Melt Gallery, November 9-December 22
Opening reception for the artists: Thursday, November 9th, 8-11pm
Special Performance by: Money Mark

The newly inaugurated Melt Gallery is proud to present the fine art of two of the country’s most renowned street artists, Stash and Slick. Representing the East and West coasts respectively, the two artists have been honing their distinct styles for more than 20 years and have both become internationally recognized icons in a scene they helped lay the foundation for. Melt is proud to unite both artists-who will be exhibiting together for the first time-bridging the gaps between their definitive coastal styles, influences, and experiences. Each will individually present a body of new work created specifically for the show, and collaborative paintings will represent the first artistic cooperation of the pair. In addition, limited-edition merchandise from both artists will be available throughout the duration of the show.

IMDB Gems

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Every so often I do a bit of stunt-piloting on the Internet Movie Database and catch up on what’s happening in the world of motion pictures. Inevitably, on these little sojourns, I stumble upon descriptions of films that baffle or send my heart into palpitations. I’ve decided to share some of these masterpieces in a series I’m calling… IMDB Gems.

Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to top the brain-shattering absurdity (that said, I’ll be first in line for a ticket) of our first instalment. But without further ado, I give you…

JACK AND DIANE (2007)… (pre-production)

Starring:

Ellen Page (Kitty Pride, X-MEN 3)

Olivia Thirlby (Aubrey Cain, KIDNAPPED)

Plot Summary

“Jack and Diane, two teenage lesbians, meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Diane’s charming innocence quickly begins to open Jack’s tough skinned heart. But, when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week she tries to push her away. Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire occasionally turns her into a werewolf.
