For the past 10+ years, Los Angeles very own Augustine Kofie has been hoarding discarded treasures. For the first time, a very special Installation of his accumulated assortments will be on display in the windows of SURU for the month of April 2007.
Snatched metal signs, vintage spray cans, outdated drafting supplys, assorted Boom Boxes, Electronic Equipment, Industrial Furniture & a healthy handful of Tool Boxes will adorn the front & interior display windows of this forward thinking boutique. Most of these personal & never before seen artifacts have been embellished with Kof’s unique design asthetic, some maintain their natural age & beauty. Previews of the show and flyers can be found after the jump!

Molly Crabapple Presents an Evening of Burlesque and Book Signing

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

This Wednesday! (Tomorrow!) You won’t want to miss it:

Dr. Sketchy Comes To Town

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Molly Crabapple hosts a night of burlesque and book signing more popularly known as DR. SKETCHY’S ANTI-ART SCHOOL!  Indulge in the intelligent pleasures of cabaret life drawing with fetish goddess Zoetica Ebb.  It matters not if you smudge charcoal, daub fingerpaint, ink flesh or transform sidewalks with three-dimensional chalk drawings – all are welcome at this celebration of fine lines.

Molly will be signing and illustratively amending copies of her new tome, DR. SKETCHY’S RAINY DAY COLOURING BOOK.  This prestigious volume contains a wild permutation of swell and swollen ideas to tickle your fancy or at least teach you how to identify other’s fancies and tickle those as well.  The book and the event compliment one another so as to transport you directly into the mind’s eye of La Crabapple and her traveling sidekicks.  If you can hold a pencil, she can improve your evening.

Moonstone Wants Your Captain Action Pitch!

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Remember Captain Action? (It’s okay if you don’t…I didn’t)

From Moonstone’s press release:

Yes, that’s right, Moonstone can once again say…”He’s back!”Captain Action, that master of diguise IDEAL action figure from the late 1960’s returns!

Back in the day, CAP could disguise himself as Superman, Batman, Captain America, the Lone Ranger, etc! Original packaged outfits and such have been going for big bucks in the collector’s market for decades! (Of course, he was also a Gil Kane DC comic, and there was a series of figures and outfits released by Praying Mantis a decade ago.)

Moonstone wants to give CAP his due in comics!

We’re looking for proposals of no more than two pages.

The premise is entirely up to you!

Create a NEW “back story” as well as set CAP on a course for new adventures! We’re looking for that one GREAT IDEA, and we know it’s out there! (Please remember that CAP is a licensed property, and as such, if approved, would be considered “work for hire”.)

All proposals will be subject to review. You can e-mail proposals to contact_us@moonstonebooks.com
