Monday evening we received a rush re-order of the coffee table book “Kirby, King Of Comics”, written by one-time Kirby apprentice Mark Evanier. Now, you may be thinking, “cool, but not for me” , and you’d be wrong.
You are a fan of Jack Kirby. Not only do creators as diverse as Michael Chabon, Neil Gaiman, Frank Miller & the Hernandez Bros. cite him as a primary influence, but he’s also the primary source for the visual language of comics–he mastered every genre, and not only are his stylistic innovations still relevant, but his creations are still the engines that drive Marvel & DC.
