The Inaugural Cookie Pie Comedy and Comic Book Variety Show

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles, CA – October 17, 2008 – Danger Rooster Productions proudly presents The first-ever Cookie Pie Comedy and Comic Book Variety Show, The event will be hosted by Pearl-Handled Mustache.  The show will be of special interest to current students, alumni of UCB, IO, Second City, Groundlings, OTIS or any school or university. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to showcase comedy, music, and art, or just come to watch.

Acts will include music, comedy, and improv and art will also be displayed. An interactive improv jam will end the show, and everyone is invited to participate.  Written sketches can also be brought in and performed by a wide range of actors who will be in attendance.

Come see the new wave of creative artists and performers before they explode in to stardom, or spontaneously combust.  There is no cover, yet there is a suggested donation of $5 all proceeds will go towards the next production. Spread the word, bring your friends!

Where: Meltdown Comics at 7522 Sunset Blvd in Hollywood

Time: 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

I was able to grab a moment or two with Chris right as Comedy Meltdown 11 prepares for launch.

What are you working on now, personally and professionally?

I did the CD art for my friend Arlen Lawson’s alt-folk project Old Man Charlie [ http://www.myspace.com/oldmancharliemusic ], and more than just an album cover, the packaging is an 8 panel experimental apocalyptic narrative and theological essay. It’s not particularly recent, but I illustrated the book The Explosexuawesome Career Guide, available from all fine booksellers, and containing dozens of exciting drawings of people on fire, stuff exploding and Don Knotts being shot with an arrow.

In between illustration tasks I’m working on a comics adaptation of a Poe story, and a true crime book about kidnapping, devil cults, and government brainwashing. Continue reading »
