Comic Book Creation 2009 Class Syllabus
June 24:
Introduction
Story telling techniques
Character creation and design
Outline story
Home work: Bring completed outline and character designs to July 1st class.
Materials needed for following class: Comic book panel pages, pencils, pens, and white-out.
July 1:
Review completed story
Lettering techniques
Pencil story/lettering
Home work: Bring finished penciled comic to July 15th class.
Materials needed for following class: Comic book panel pages, pencils, pens, white-out, markers, ink, watercolors, and brushes.
July 15:
Ink comic and letter word/thought/narration balloons
Cover thumbnails and critique (will be taught proper critique methods)
Design cover, pencil, and ink
Home work: Finish inking comic, painting cover, and bring to July 22nd class.
Materials needed: Completed pages, cover, and a non-sugary snack or drink to share with class.
July 22:
Comic books (and covers) will be finished, assembled, and read aloud.

Comic Book Creation Ages 10-15
Students will be taught storyboarding, script development, drawing, and the importance of narration vs. dialogue. Final project will be a completed comic book based on the characters/storylines’ of students. Other topics covered include hand lettering, kerning, leading, perspective, line quality, and MANY other techniques!
