New Yorks premiere 8bit rock band ANAMANAGUCHI plays MELTDOWN COMICS, TONIGHT! Using a hacked gameboy and NES to play on top of live rock n roll, these guys put on a hell of a show. Ananmanaguchi also wrote all the music for the Scott Pilgrim vs The World video game, as well as the intro music used for the NERDIST PODCAST, and numerous original songs for G4tvs WEB SOUP. So come on out for this special JONAH RAY’S MELTDOWN PRESENTS, as it will be a dance party to remember.

Erik Benson is a former inker, who is completing the Masters Program at California State University, Fullerton. His work has moved to incorporate digital media, yet maintain the traditional aesthetic of his comic book roots. He looks towards a return to the medium of comics as a penciller, and has ambitions to self-publish. Many of the works on display reflect the story he wishes to tell, which is a tale of classic monsters plunged into the conflict of World War 2.
Erik’s works will be on display inside Melt Gallery August 24th – 29th.

Does anyone recognize this?
It’s the parking lot behind Meltdown in the 1950s! Looking north east up the alley. The PE railroad used to run down there on a private, right of way track. You can see it on this map:
LA used to have tons of public transportation train tracks, and although the companies are long out of business, we see where they used to run every day. This is a great example…if you look at Google Maps you can still see the arc of the train tracks…even where they’ve built over it, you can see oddly shaped buildings along the path:
Santa Monica in Beverly Hills is another great example…we have Regular Santa Monica and Little Santa Monica today because a train used to run in between them.
