On Sunday, December 5th in the gallery @ 3 PM, False Start Independent Books & Zines will host a free screening of “Don’t Need You”, a short documentary about the origins of Riot Grrrl, a feminist punk rock movement from the early 1990’s. Through making music, playing shows and writing zines, Riot Grrrls created a movement centered on creativity, self-expression and making marginalized voices heard. In addition to the screening there will be an art show of work that embodies the do-it-yourself, low art, punk rock spirit of Riot Grrrl.
The documentary is 40 minutes long and there will be zines to browse and buy, some booze to sip on for those that are 21+, and of course, art to look at! It’ll be a fun, relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and remember to bring your snuggie — it can get cold in the gallery!

TAKE FLIGHT is an offbeat, funny, stylish documentary about Gary Oldman (Batman movie franchise – Christopher Nolan) directing a tongue ‘n cheek music video. Ms. Juliet Landau (acclaimed actress, director, voice talent extraordinaire) directed the documentary about Oldman’s creative process amidst chaos. She will be signing copies of the DVD and taking Q&A as well. Juliet is also no stranger to the comic and animation universe. She lends her voice talents to Ben 10, Green Lantern: First Flight and has co-written and designed two special edition Angel comic books. As you know, she co-starred on both the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel series.
