We’ve somehow survived the Con and are back to chat up Image/Shadowline editor Kris Simon about the editing process, her experience at conventions, working with new vs. veteran creators, and unveils her new top-secret project that will shatter worlds and break the Internet in half!

In the second half we finally talk about Scott Pilgrim vol. 6, as well as Thunderbolts #145, Bakuman vol.1, Green Lantern #56, PunisherMax #9, X-Men Legacy #238,Wonder Woman #601, Madam Xanadu #25 (with beautiful art by Laurenn McCubbin), Batman: Widening Gyre #6, Marvels Project HC, and American Vampire #6.

Warning o faithful, the disease known as Con hangover still affects members of the crew several short days later…

We start the show on a somber note, as Sam leads our eulogy of Harvey Pekar.  Then, the train flies off the rails as Caleb returns and we ask the question that cannot be answered – what do comic readers want? We also get an exclusive first look at Taschen Books’ upcoming 75 YEARS OF DC COMICS: THE ART OF MODERN MYTHMAKING (special thanks to Sarah Boyd of Taschen) and feast on a glut of other books: THE NOBODY by Aaron’s favorite cartoonist, Jeff Lemire; DAYTRIPPERS by Ba & Moon, ORC STAIN by James Stokoe, ULTIMATE COMICS AVENGERS Vol. 1 – NEXT GENERATION by Millar & Pacheco, SCARLET #1 by Bendis & Maleev, PEEPO CHOO by Meltcast fave Felipe Smith, BATMAN #701 by Morrison & Daniel, THE SIXTH GUN by Cullen Bunn & Brian Hurtt, THE MAN WITH THE GETAWAY FACE by Darwyn Cooke, SUPERMAN #701 from JMS & Eddie Barrows, GIRL COMICS #3, and AVENGERS ACADEMY by Gage & McKone.
Reunited… and you know the rest.

Music: Foghat – Slow Ride / Usher – Confessions pt.2 …

This weeks’ episode has more roster changes than a year of Avengers titles! First, while Caleb is away, the podcasters three contrast the opening of the Daredevil event SHADOWLAND, with Grant Morrison’s latest chapter of his ongoing Bat-saga in BATMAN & ROBIN #13. Other books discussed include DETECTIVE COMICS #866, Meltcast fave Paul Cornell’s ACTION COMICS #890, TURF #2, SCALPED #39, BATMAN: ODYSSEY, THE ATOM SPECIAL, THE BOYS, X-WOMEN, and the Marvel comics premiere of CASANOVA.

In the second segment Sam steps out and Nicole Campos (LA WEEKLY)  returns to help us interview Eisner Award winner Hope Larson (GRAY HORSES, CHIGGERS).  We touch on Hope’s Survey of Female Comics readers, working with book publishers versus within the comics industry, and her newest book, Mercury.

Our hands were not idle this week; the devil must be disappointed.

Music: Robyn – “Fembot” / Missy Elliot – “Beep Me 911″

The fire’s lit today as the gang shreds into books like NEW AVENGERS #62, FANTASTIC FOUR #576, THOR #607, BATMAN & ROBIN #9, and later discusses the news of the (last) week in which Geoff Johns, Jim Lee and others are shuffled around in the DC hierarchy. Oh, and in an unusual turn of events, Chris sings a lot in this episode. For real.
