Meltdown University will be starting a new series of the Drawing Basics class on Saturday September 18th at 3pm.  This class covers all the fundamentals of drawing: figure drawing, perspective, light and shadow, drawing objects, rooms, and backgrounds, and more.   It’s not just for people interested in comics — anyone looking to learn basic drawing skills can take the class.  There’s some homework but not a lot and you’ll be surrounded by comics and in a fun environment.

Want to write and draw comics? Come down and learn about story structure, page layout and visual storytelling while you write and draw an 8-page minicomic.  Want to write comics? Take the class and learn how to put a solid and interesting story together that has substance while you write a 12 to 14-page comics script.

New class starts this Thursday, August 19th: http://www.meltcomics.com/blog/meltdown-university/

Jim Higgins here, teacher and program director at Meltdown U. Due to factors like summer vacations and something called Comic-Con (they keep talking about it on Attack of the Show), there won’t be any new series of Meltdown U classes starting till September.

If you want to take either the Drawing Basics or Comics Creation classes, you can sign up now or anytime in August.

More information is here: Meltdown University.

We haven’t set exact start dates yet but look for announcements here in about a month.

ALL PRESENT CLASSES ARE STILL MEETING! If you’re in any of the classes now, I’ll be back this Monday, July 12.

Take care and have a good summer folks.

Want to learn how to be a comics writer or a comics artist?  Here at Meltdown University we’ve got the solution.  Take our Making Comics class where you’ll learn about story structure, visual storytelling, and the art of comics.  You can take the class if you’re a writer and you’ll complete a script for a short comics story by the end of the 14-week series.  Or, if you’re an artist, you’ll write and draw an eight-page minicomic that you can then sell at Meltdown or anywhere you like.  Make it your calling card to show comics editors and publishers what you can do.

The next series starts on Monday, May 24th at 7pm and meets for 13 Mondays afterward.  Interest in the classes has been growing and growing so sign up now!

Meltdown University

We’re gearing up for a new class about writing and drawing comics so if you’ve been thinking about getting the skills or shoring up the one’s you have, now’s the time to sign up.  You can take the class whether you’re a writer looking to understand how to put a comic book script together or an artist who’s looking to do a comic book story.  We go over all the necessary material to do both.  Plus, the writers have the benefit of seeing the process the artists go through to do a comic and the artists learn from those who’ve spent time focusing on their writing ability.

There’s a rumor that there’s a few aspiring screenwriters in this town (No es posible!  Il n’est pas possible!  Это не возможно!)  If you’re someone who’s been working on screenplays and thinking about the similarities between film and comics, come sign up and learn the differences and maybe write something you can turn into a comic book yourself.  We always spend some time talking about how to get published, how to self-publish and get distributed, and how to find artists if you’re a writer.

The new series starts on Monday February 22nd, at 7pm and runs for 13 Mondays after that.  Cost — a mere $20 per session.

So what are you waiting for?  Click the link below for more info and details about how to sign up.  There are a lot worse ways to spend your time than sitting in a place surrounded by cool books and graphic novels talking about comics, y’know.
