Comics on Comics and Comic Book Sunday Present: Countdown to San Diego Comic-Con International!

In just over a month, the comic book world will descend upon San Diego for the 2010 Comic-Con International!

To celebrate the event, Comics on Comics and Comic Book Sunday are teaming up for a special party at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood this Friday, June 25!

Comic book fans and creators from the Los Angeles area and beyond are invited for a unique mixer that will bring the local comic book community together! Comic book creators and companies will also be invited to present previews of their San Diego announcements prior to the show!

Additionally, several of our favorite comedians and musical guests will stop by for exclusive performances.

But wait there’s more! Comics on Comics and Retcon Media have found a home base at Meltdown Comics. We’ve used Mr. Fantastic’s negative zone technology to teleport our home office from the microverse (internet) to Meltdown. So this isn’t just a mixer, its an office warming party! Come see what will soon prove to be the center of geek media in Los Angles and beyond.

This isn’t just a party, its a party at OUR house.

Mark your calendars! It all goes down this Friday, June 25 at Meltdown Comics, located at 7522 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA.
The party starts at 8 p.m. and the cover is $5! Refreshments will be provided.

Comics on Comics producers Sax Carr and Emel Bonty team up with Meltdown Comics for the first reviews of this year’s Free Comic Book Day titles, including Iron Man/ThorMouse GuardSupermanThe Simpsons and Archie before Emel and Sax get into a heated debate over the Green Hornet!
Don’t miss Free Comic Book Day this Saturday, May 1st at Meltdown Comics, which is located at 7522 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA. Store opens at 10AM!

Just one week from today, geek brethren: Matthew Vaughn’s much anticipated, controversial, madder-than-a-hatter and — judging by the early reactions — all-but-assured cult classic adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass barrels its way into theaters. In the spirit of home-spun vigilante heroism, the intrepid crew of Meltdown Comics held an event Wednesday night with an eye toward giving any and all local candidates for grass-roots ass-kickery a chance to shine and prove to the world they’ve got what it takes to put a boot in the hiney of… well, any hiney that requires booting, really. With the backup of Comics on Comics, Geekscape and Lionsgate Films, Meltdown cleared as much space as possible in their back gallery space (No mean feat – lots of room breadth-wise but those ceilings are low. And dude, don’t kick the artwork!), set up cameras, called in some judges and enticed the masses with gooey fried goodness from the Frysmith french-fry truck… all to find out who among Hollywood faithful had what it takes – with only a minute to demonstrate — just how they are capable of kicking ass.
