Are you tired of going to Meltdown, on Wednesday, to pick up your comics alone? Does your Mage not have a warrior to protect him? Does the arrow on your “There is no intelligent life” t-shirt not point to anyone?

Well Meltdown Comics is here to help your lonely heart. We are holding the first ever nerd speed dating event. This is no April Fools joke. For $20 you get to be a part of fun night where single men and women with similar interests get to know each other ASAP. There will also be fun prizes, some comedy bits and music.

How it works: What is speed dating you ask? The ladies sit down and every 3 minutes gents rotate. You introduce yourself. Get a feel for the other person. The ladies take notes on all the men the meet. At the end of the night the sheet with notes are given to Meltdown. If there is a match we let you know then you go on a date, you get married and you have kids you dress up like Hobbits for Halloween.

Of course we will be adding some of the spice that you expect from any event at Meltdown. There will be wine, trivia questions, prizes, comedians and much much more.

Tons and tons of comedians performing shorter sets of fanboy-themed material.

Since December, 2007 ”Comics and Comics” has been entertaining crowds at Meltdown Comics and Collectibles in Hollywood with the nerdiest, geekiest stand-up comedy imaginable. While not the first or the only stand-up show performed in a comic book shop, “Comics and Comics” is unique in that the material presented within the show covers topics of interest to people who would be patronizing such a store to begin with: comic books, movies, videogames, role-playing, action figures, etc. The show was created by stand-up veteran Tom Franck who can claim the ultimate nerd comedian status as an appearance in Green Lantern 143 labeled him as the top comedian in the DC universe. The comedians on the show are not only some of the funniest working today, but also have the geek street cred to enable them to remain on theme throughout their sets.

Nerd Prom 2099 is going to be a 4 hour dance party in a bar close to SDCC. People are encouraged to dress up any way they like. You may attend with a date, or come stag–maybe that guy in the tattered tux is the one for you… DJ Franki Chan is spinning. Posed Prom Photos will be taken in front of a backdrop, just like real prom. A NERD PROM 2099 King and Queen will be crowned. More info to come!

It is time to weave wonder and leave mouths agape in the wake of impenetrable accents and extraordinary ideas! It is time for YOU to return to MELTDOWN, because the Scottish swami Grant Morrison is returning to grace us with his presence and give us mere cave dwellers our first bouts of intellectual fire!

Are you going to allow the microphone to be dominated with the weeping milk-tears of egg-handed fools who will simply rehash old discussions of the Talmud of Mr. Tawky Tawny or shall we look towards a brighter day to come and inquire after new scripts, songs, fashions and fabulations?

If you consider yourself a worthwhile nerd, a good geek, a fascinating fan of freak fiction, then do us a favor and start formulating your questions now so that we can extract as much information about our favorite characters and series, old and new, and even if for a moment transcend our mortal coil to a dream world of comical capes and quizzical chimpanzees.

Come complete the circle and revel in the impossible.

CLIVE BARKER will hold a brief conversation with GRANT MORRISON before the signing. Copies of Mr. Morrison’s latest literary luncheons, Final Crisis HC + Batman and Robin #1, will be on sale. That same day is the release of Batman and Robin # 2. Buy one (or 3) of these 3 books and get into the event in the Meltdown Gallery.

Sadly, no outside items will be allowed due to time constrain on the talent. But don’t despair! Refreshments and music will also be provided.
