About Comics and Comics:
Comics and Comics is a stand-up comedy show, started in December of 2007 by Tom Franck. The show takes place in the gallery of Meltdown Comics and Collectibles on Sunset Blvd. - the best comic book store on the planet. “Comics and Comics” is unique in that the material presented within the show covers topics of interest to people who would be in a comic book store to begin with: comic books, movies, videogames, role-playing, action figures, etc. We book comedians who are not only the finest working today, but who have the geek street cred and the material appropriate for the show.
Due to the high volume of comedians requesting to perform on “Comics and Comics” since its launch, another version of the show, “Crisis On Infinite Comics and Comics,” was started several months after the regular show. While the normal C and C shows feature about six comedians, “Crisis” shows have lineups of 15-20 comics. This venue allows comedians appropriate for the theme of the show to be recognized and booked much sooner than if the “Crisis” didn’t exist.
Each “Comics and Comics” show also features a monologue by Tom Franck called “But Let’s Face It” — an opinion piece which addresses topics relevant to the world of fanboys.
Audience members of ”Comics and Comics” are not only treated to an evening of top-notch stand-up comedy, but can also quench their thirst with a stunning variety of cane-sugar sodas including: Faygo, Boylan’s and Mexican Coke at the open bar.
“Comics and Comics” was featured on a segment on NPR’s “Marketplace” and, in the summer of 2009, was performed on the exhibition hall of the San Diego Comic-Con.
