11/15/2005: "Drunken Master Announcement!!"
Sympathy For Mr. Vengenace at Cinespace this Wed.
Hi everyone,
For people on the list in Los Angeles, this Wednesday (the 16th) at 8 PM "Sympathy For Mr. Vengenace" from director Park Chan Wook ("Oldboy") is showing at Cinespace. Even better, they are also doing a 20 minute preview of his newest film "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance", which is the first time any of it is being shown theatrically in the U.S. outside of one or two film festivals. It is hosted by Tartan Films, and we will be there as well with a very small version of our normal convention set-up.
Admission is free, but table/dinner reservations are required for preferred theater seating. The film is also playing on monitors throughout the facility, so if you want to just get drinks in the lounge you will still be able to see the film and preview, and there is still no admission charge. For reservations, you should call (323) 817-FILM and please mention that you were referred by Drunken Master. If we get a good turnout for this, they will be doing more cool programming which would be awesome.
By the way, we were told that dinner starts at around $12, so if you reserve a table and get food, with no admission charge it's still cheaper than going to a similar theater here in Hollywood and getting nothing but a ticket and some kid sitting behind you kicking your chair :)
If you could, please pass this on to anyone you think would be interested. I'd like to show that there is a strong audience for this kind of thing here.
On another note, we are getting a bunch of new stuff into the shop this week, including Jackie's new film "The Myth" in 4(!) different ALL REGION releases and a release of "Tom Yum Goong" starring Tony Jaa from "Ong Bak". We also have the Region 1 Tartan release of "Sympathy..." coming next week and it will be on sale! So come and visit us at our store inside Meltdown Comics, which is at 7522 W. Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood and spend all that money you were going to use for Xmas gifts and bills on important stuff like DVD's and comic books. :)
Thanks!
Rick
